Vidigal, a former favela, is now the extension of "Zona Sul". Leblon (the most expensive residential area in Brazil) and Ipanema and the beaches are just 500 meters away. Vidigal shares its own beach with the Sheraton Hotel. The Avenida Niemeyer (Niemeyer Avenue) divides the Vidigal development from the area of the Sheraton Hotel. Originally, 70% of Vidigal was illegally occupied and included buildings which were illegally erected. Over the past two years, the Brazilian Government has handed over ownership of buildings and land to its residents that have proven through witnesses that they have lived in the community for 5 or more years. These residents pay for their own electricity and water and the buildings were registered in their names in order to provide some legality to the area. Now there are 8,000 buildings with 23, 360 residences which roughly equals 60,000 people who call this community home.
Over the past few years, 20 million Brazilian families have climbed the social class ladder and every day there are 64 new millionaires- as you can see, the society is reshaping very fast. In fact, the economic data are so positive and promising that second only to China, Brazil has the highest foreign investment. However, it was not only idealism which brought us to choose Vidigal on the beach, next to Leblon, in the metropolitan city of Rio.
Facts tell us that is is the right country and the right time! In the middle of September 2008, the Brazilian Government implemented laws that protect and enhance the tourism industry. These laws were deemed so important that President Lula da Silva announced them to the media recently.
Our mission is to provide a comfortable and clean living environment where residents can work in a calm neighborhood and make above average income while their children benefit from getting an excellent education, which will enhance labor skills as well. Last, but certainly not least, because of "multi million dollar views", this undervalued property has many unlocked treasures which make Vidigal a prime location for leisure! Vidigal's residents are excited and are working in coordination and agreement with our mission!

What is important is the willingness to contribute to the well-being of the community in order to provide a bright future. To achieve this goal, economic and educational measures have to be implemented. The big question is, who will pay for it?!
